Conventions we aim to use:

Below is a mind map (click to enlarge) which demonstrates the main conventions we wish to use for each of our tasks. While we think it is important to follow some conventional elements of the horror genre and the typical form for the trailer, magazine cover and poster, it is also important that we challenge some of these conventions along the way. Obviously our target audience needs to be able to identify the genre of our production, but we also aim to subvert some of the more cliché elements of horror in order to make our work more unique.  Including too many conventional elements of horror may lead to our film trailer becoming too predictable, and this will make the audience less likely to want to go out and watch the film, and the same applies to the magazine cover and film poster. By choosing to subvert some of the typical conventions while still staying true to the genre, the audience is far more likely to express an interest in our work. The research we conducted into sub-genres and the conventional features of our productions will really benefit us when considering what to include in our work and will contribute to the way in which our ideas will form.
